If you are aged between 11 and 18 years and enjoy singing we would be delighted to hear from you. There is no formal audition for BFYC. Our Music Director, Juliette Pochin will have an informal chat with you to assess your current vocal range and previous experience. Good sight-reading is not a requirement. You will need to have a love of singing and a commitment to regularly attend rehearsals and take part in concerts.
If you would like to join BFYC but are unsure what it entails why not come along to Brighton Aldridge Community Academy on Wednesday 6.30pm to see what it is all about. Prospective new members are invited every year to an Open Rehearsal, where you can try out the Youth Choir before joining.
Our regular rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings during term time from 6.30-8.30 pm at the Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA), Lewes Road, Brighton BN1 9PW. Download Directions to BACA
When you join the Youth Choir you will be expected to attend weekly rehearsals and to participate in all concerts.
Membership is £90 a year (or £30 termly). This fee includes the cost of all music and travel outside of the Brighton area. Our bursary scheme is available for those experiencing financial hardship.
Contact the choir secretary Julie Emerton on bfyc@hotmail.co.uk for further information or to arrange a visit.
