This link will take you to a helpful translation of the Mahler 2 from Mark Palmer via James.
Mark says:
“First literal to indicate where English fits, which might help first-timers (like myself) in learning the German text.
The second is a freer translation (takes some liberties!) to at least give a general sense of the text as poetry.
It tries to use a more contemporary idiom than other translations (such as Cooke’s).
Again it might be helpful to those new to the work looking to get a feel for its meaning”.
Hope they are helpful!
