A Rose in Winter with The Brighton Singers.
This year there is no clash with BFC in the Dome! So you have the opportunity to come and listen to a brilliant local chamber choir.
Director Nicholas Houghton has chosen a number of pieces by British composers of the 20th and 21st century to celebrate the Christmas season. The main featured work is John Rutter’s Magnificat which is a musical setting of the biblical canticle Magnificat, completed in 1990 and is based on the Latin text, interspersed with “Of a Rose, a lovely Rose”, an anonymous English poem on Marian themes. Also included is Herbert Howells’ A Spotless Rose – hence the concert’s title. There are other lovely works to enjoy too.
The concert is at St Paul’s Church in West Street on Sunday December 3rd at 5pm. Do your shopping and then relax with some beautiful music.
Tickets are £12 available online via the website www.brightonsingers.org.uk or on the door. Do come – and bring your friends and relations.
